Cleaning and Preserving Your Wedding Gown

Cleaning and preserving your wedding dress involves a detailed and specialized process to ensure the gown remains in excellent condition for years to come. AMBD works with a third-party provider to professionally clean and preserve your gown. This process will remove soil and invisible stains that, given time, will ruin fine fabrics and adornments.

So How Does It Work?

Inspection:

The first step in bridal gown preservation is a thorough inspection of the gown. The wedding dress specialist will examine the gown for stains, spots, and any areas of damage. Identifying and documenting these issues is crucial for targeted treatment during cleaning and preservation, ensuring that the wedding gown cleaning process is thorough and effective.

Pre-spotting:

Stains and spots on your bridal gown are pre-treated with specialized solutions to ensure effective cleaning and preservation. This process may involve hand-spotting delicate areas and using appropriate techniques based on the type of stain, such as wine, makeup, or dirt. These wedding gown cleaning techniques will guarantee that oils, visible stains, and even those troublesome marks that may not be immediately visible to the eye are thoroughly removed.

Cleaning:

The wedding gown cleaning process is determined by its fabric and any special care requirements, as bridal gown preservation techniques vary. It's important to note that ordinary dry-cleaning will not effectively remove sugar-type stains or salt.

Rinsing:

After the wedding gown cleaning process, the bridal gown is thoroughly rinsed to eliminate any residual cleaning agents and solvents. This step is crucial for ensuring that no chemical residues remain on the fabric, which is essential for proper bridal gown preservation.

Drying:

The bridal gown is carefully dried using specialized equipment designed for wedding gown cleaning and preservation, which helps prevent over-drying and heat damage. This process is crucial to maintaining the gown's fabric and embellishments.

Pressing:

Careful pressing, folding, shaping, and inserting into the preservation box are crucial steps in bridal gown preservation. Once the wedding gown is clean and dry, it may be pressed or steamed to restore its shape and smooth out any wrinkles. Care is taken to use the appropriate heat and pressure levels during this cleaning and preservation process to avoid damage.

Preservation:

After the wedding gown cleaning, the bridal gown preservation process is initiated to prevent yellowing and damage over time. This typically involves the following steps:

Acid-free storage materials:

The bridal gown is carefully placed in an acid-free, high-quality inner box to prevent yellowing caused by exposure to air and light. For added protection, acid-free tissue paper is used to pad the dress during wedding gown cleaning and preservation.

Sealing:

The acid-free preservation inner box used in bridal gown preservation is then sealed with a heat-shrink neutral clear vinyl material. This careful cleaning and preservation process protects your gown from contaminating air, dust, and potential infestation. After sealing, a proprietary process removes the oxygen from within the seal. Finally, your wedding gown is placed in an outer protection box.
